Man Shot By Boston Police Held On $2M Bail
BOSTON (AP) — A man shot by Boston police after allegedly firing at them during a drug-selling investigation has been ordered held on $2 million bail.
Twenty-one-year-old Paul Eric Louis-Jeune of Braintree was arraigned Thursday in his hospital bed. He pleaded not guilty to charges including armed assault with intent to murder, possession of drugs with intent to distribute and several firearms violations.
Prosecutor William Champlin IV said police encountered Louis-Jeune during a drug investigation at a South Boston housing project Tuesday and he fired at two officers. The officers fired back and wounded Louis-Jeune, who is expected to recover.
The prosecutor said officers found him carrying 24 plastic bags that contained what is believed to be crack cocaine and some white tablets.
Champlin said Louis-Jeune also has open gun and drug charges from a 2012 arrest in Brooklyn, N.Y.
