Man Sentenced For Manslaughter In 1989 Baby Assault
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire attorney general says a 47-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for manslaughter for an assault on a baby more than 20 years ago that led to the child's death as a teenager.
Authorities say Bruce Watson was sentenced Friday to 18 1/2 to 37 years for an assault in 1989 on a 4-month old baby. The boy died in 2008 at age 18.
The attorney general says Watson violently shook Brian Wiggin and threw him onto a loveseat. Authorities say the assault left Wiggin disabled and he spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair or bed.
Watson had pleaded guilty in 1991 to second-degree assault and was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years in prison.
He was sentenced again after the child's death.
