Man Charged With Murder In Death Of Brockton Mother, Toddler
BROCKTON (AP) -- A Massachusetts prosecutor says he has filed murder charges against a man who fled the country after the killings of a mother and her toddler son whose bodies were found in a trash bin.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said Wednesday he's asked the Ecuadoran government to return 40-year-old Luis Augustin Guaman, who was arrested there on other charges.
The bodies of 25-year-old Ecuadoran immigrant Maria Avelina Palaguachi-Cela and her 2-year-old son were found Feb. 13 near the Brockton apartment building where they lived with Guaman and others.
Cruz had said he wanted to question Guaman, one of the last to see the victims. Cruz said Wednesday he obtained a murder arrest warrant Feb. 18 and gave it to Ecuadoran officials.
