Man Arrested After Chase, Crash In North End Says He Was High
BOSTON (CBS) - A man arrested for leading police on a high speed chase through two states tells officers he was high the whole time.
The North End was turned upside down Sunday afternoon when a stolen pickup came barreling through the neighborhood. On Monday, the man allegedly behind the wheel appeared in court.
Witnesses say it's a sight they won't soon forget: a stolen pickup truck speeding into a North End parking lot and crashing just a few feet from the ocean.

Surveillance video shows the truck smashing through a wooden gate before it continues through the parking lot eventually coming to a stop with a flat tire and other damage.
Finally you see the alleged driver, Michael Daniels of Peabody, running away from the wreck, carrying a green shirt, the same shirt he was wearing a short time later when police caught up with him. As he was arrested, police say Daniels told them he had used crystal meth, heroin and cocaine, and was very high.
Prosecutors say Daniels has 36 convictions and 21 defaults on his record. They say he hit 15 cars while being chased from New Hampshire to Boston at high speeds by State Police. They also say he robbed his passenger of $140 before he ran.
The passenger told police he was kidnapped, but Daniels is not charged with kidnapping. He does face robbery, drug and weapons charges. He's held on $25,000 dollars bail.
Nobody was hurt in any of the crashes.
