Police Seek Man Who Tried To Sexually Assault Girl
HOOKSETT, N.H. (CBS) – Police officers in Hooksett, N.H. say they are looking for a man who reportedly exposed himself to a young girl and then attempted to sexually assault her in the girl's backyard.
It was still light out at about 5 p.m. when police say the 11-year-old child was playing behind her family's house on Hooksett Street, when seemingly out of nowhere, a suspect tried to attack.
The girl told responding officers that the unknown man approached her and exposed himself. The man also attempted to lift up her shirt, she told police.
"She was pushed up against the back of the shed, at which time she fought back and was able to get away," Hooksett police Sgt. Jake Robie told WBZ-TV's Julie Loncich.
Residents in the area were shocked.
"That's gross, to me," neighbor Nicole McLaughlin said. "That's horrifying."
Manchester police responded to the scene to perform a K9 search of the area, but lost the scent around Carrington Farms.
The man is described as black or Hispanic, about 40 years old and 6' to 6'3" tall with short brown and white hair. The man was wearing black shorts with white stripes down the side and a white Salvation Army tank top.
Parents and grandparents in the area are watching their children more closely.
"I wouldn't even want to imagine anything like that happening," neighbor Jean Renn said. "You gotta make sure that you're out here, now. You just gotta watch them all the time. Because you never know."
