Man Alerts Hyde Park Families Of House Fire
BOSTON (CBS) - Three families in Hyde Park are thankful for the man who alerted them of the fire in their apartment house on Monday.
"I just want to tell him thank you, " said Sully Montilla. "He was a hero."
That man was Sean Byrne, a worker at the nearby Philbrick School. He saw the flames and ran around to the front of the building, and started banging on doors to get residents out.
"I saw the flames, and didn't know if anyone was inside and there were," he says.
Now, several families are homeless, but the Red Cross is helping them out with temporary housing.
"I am nine months pregnant," cried Sully Montilla, "and I have two kids now with no place to sleep."
But she's thankful she's alive, due in part to Sean Byrne who says he's no hero.
"Absolutely not," he says. "I was just trying to help out, that's all."
