Malden Police Seek Robber Who Distracted Store Clerk By Spilling Juice

MALDEN (CBS) - Malden police are looking for help finding a robber who distracted a convenience store clerk by spilling juice Tuesday night.

Police were called to L&M Convenience Store on Ferry Street shortly before 7:30 p.m.

A man was lingering in the store, talking to the clerk and other shoppers for a while before dropping a glass bottle in one of the isles.

While the clerk went to get a mop and bucket, police say the man watched the front of the store.

He helped clean the spill before the clerk heads to the back room to return the mop and bucket.

While this is happening, the thief leaned over the counter, grabbed cash from the register and left the store.

It's unclear how much money was stolen during the incident.

The robber is described as a man in his 20s or 30s, with a medium build, 5-foot-9-inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 165-to-180 pounds, wearing a blue and black jacket, blue jeans and black Nike sneakers with a white symbol on the side.

He also had no visible scars, marks or tattoos and wasn't seen carrying a weapon.

Anyone with information can call Malden police at 781-397-7181 or text MALDEN to 847411.
