Maine Photographer 'Floored' By Large Group Of Bald Eagles

PLYMOUTH, MAINE (CBS) – Most people are lucky if they see one bald eagle in the wild in their lifetime.

But one New England bird watcher hit the jackpot earlier this month. Maine photographer Laurie Meagher Bird of Plymouth managed to capture more than a dozen bald eagles perched on a tree.

She told The Bangor Daily News that she was running some errands when she stumbled on the symbols of American freedom.

"I was floored by the amount," she told the newspaper. "Even more of them just sitting there and flying above. They were just everywhere."

Bird told The Daily News that she made the discovery in Central Maine, but didn't want to get any more specific out of respect for the wildlife and land owner.
