Luongo Sitting Out Bruins Game, Schneider To Get Start For Canucks
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Bruins fans looking to "pump the tires" of Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo won't get that chance when Vancouver comes to Boston on Saturday.
At least not to start the game.
Marblehead native Cory Schneider will get the start between the pipes for the Canucks on Saturday when they face the Bruins for the first time since they won the Stanley Cup on Vancouver ice.
"I don't think they have to hide Lou; the guy is an amazing goalie and he's been one of the best goalies of the last six months," Schneider said of the move on Friday. "I think it's a nice gesture by coach to give me a game at home in front of friends and family. Of course, Lou wanted to play this game. I think a game like this he would be looking forward to some redemption to prove some people wrong."

"I would have liked to play the game, but in fairness to Corey he is from here and he deserves to play this game," Luongo said after the Canucks skate on Friday. "I'm all for it."
Luongo did not enjoy his time in Boston during the Cup finals. He was shelled 8-1 in Game 3 and then pulled in the third period of Game 4 after Boston jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
Schneider mopped for Luongo in Game 4, and saw even more ice time in Game 6 in Boston. Luongo was pulled just 8:35 into the game after giving up three Boston goals.
The Schneider family is in an interesting position, as they are Bruins' season ticket holders but were rooting for their son and the Cancucks during last year's Stanley Cup Final.
A Boston College alum, Schneider is 8-5 this season with a 2.16 goals-against-average.
