Police said they were called on Saturday to the Rourke Bridge in Lowell for a car stopped in traffic.
When they got there, police said they found Sean Stanek of Lowell asleep at the wheel, with his chin resting on his chest.
When an officer tried to put the car in park, they said Stanek woke up and hit the gas, dragging the officer for 20 or 30 feet. The officer was OK.
Police then stopped the car and out Stanek in handcuffs after a brief struggle. He was arrested on several charges, including drunk driving.
Officers said Stanek had a cup full of liquor in the car, and a 3- or 4-year-old boy unbuckled in the back seat.
