Lots of Melting...

The Melting has commenced as highs today cleared 40 in Boston...41 just before 4PM.  That 41 marks only the 8th time we have cleared 40 since January 1st...so this thaw is much needed.

Just two weeks ago most of Eastern Mass had over two feet of snow on the ground now it has shrunk to a little over a foot...keep in mind that these readings aren't representative of the incredibly high snowbanks that line every street and sidewalk in the Commonwealth.  With that said, it will be interesting to see how much they deplete over the next few days with highs expected near 50 tomorrow and into the 50s on Friday...Thursday night we should also stay above freezing which will aid in the melting process.

Early next week is our next opportunity at a storm...the outcome still looks a little cryptic but the timing appears to be centered around Monday night and it looks as if the colder solution is the way to go with the NAO either neutral or slightly negative early next week.  In any event, the blocking doesn't look too substantial to slow the system down and make it a biggie so at this time just a minor impact to the area if it materializes at all.
