Lost Mass. Hiker Found With Police Helicopter's Thermal Imaging Camera
LEE (CBS) -- A woman lost while hiking in Western Massachusetts was found Friday night thanks to a police helicopter's thermal imaging camera.
A man called police at 7:30 p.m. to report his 53-year-old wife missing on October Mountain, which is the largest state forest in Massachusetts. The husband said he believed his wife entered the forest at the Becket entrance in the town of Lee.
A Massachusetts State Police helicopter with a thermal imaging camera was able to locate the woman less than two hours later and guide in rescuers from the ground. The woman can be seen waving at the helicopter in a video posted by police.
