Loss Of "I'll Have Another" Is Catastrophic
BOSTON (CBS) - The Belmont Stakes won't be the same now that I'll Have Another is scratched because of a tendon injury.
The colt was officially retired Friday, just a day before many thought the horse would become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.

John Avello at Wynn Las Vegas says the impact on the race is catastrophic.
He says some of the money that was booked will be refunded. Money collected after the Preakness will be refunded, because those wagers say I'll have Another must run the Belmont for a gambler to have action on that bet.
Avello expects the handle on the race will be much smaller, with tens of millions of dollars lost. He says there will be an impact on attendance at the track, and merchandise sold, among other things.
