Long-Range Forecast Shows August Will Be Cool, Dry
BOSTON (CBS) -- August 1st means we've turned the page now on two of the three months that make up our "meteorological summer."
But what's ahead for the last month?
Good news if June was too wet for you and July was too hot, August may be just right.

August Forecast Looks Cool, Dry
June went down in the record books with more than 10 inches of rain.
"It seems like it was raining all the time," Burbank said. "It was one of the wettest June's we've ever had here in Boston and in much of New England."

Then in July, hot weather moved in - making it the fifth hottest July is history.
Along with hot weather, severe weather was also reported throughout the region.

"We have two significant heat waves; one lasting 5 days, one lasting 7 days," Burbank said.
But long-range forecasts show cooler air will prevail.
"We have winds coming out of Canada," he said.
Burbank says things have already cooled off and the trend will likely continue through the month.
"Overall the pattern is favorable for temperature to be near or below average," Burbank said. " The overall outlook for August, September and October is near to below average temperatures."
