Logan Airport Opens Counterterrorism Office
BOSTON (AP) -- The FBI is opening the nation's first airport-based counterterrorism office at Boston's Logan International Airport.
Officials from the FBI and the Massachusetts Port Authority, the state agency that runs Logan, announced Tuesday that an office for the Joint Terrorism Task Force has been opened at the airport.
The office will be staffed by personnel from eight agencies and will work closely with state and local law enforcement to share information and coordinate security.

Officials say this is one of many strategies to improve communication across agencies, something that was lacking before the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Two planes hijacked from Logan were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York.
