Local Woman Wins Trip To Tony Awards
BOSTON (CBS) -- Alys Myers is giddy about her good luck.
She entered a sweepstakes through Broadway Across America and won a trip to the Tony Awards.
The Dorchester sculptor and jewelry designer is passionate about live theater.
"I think people don't pay attention to the arts enough these days. They spend lots of money on food and clothing and everything and the arts is what makes our society flourish," she says.
Myers says she is most excited to see host Neil Patrick Harris - star of "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS.
"He's incredibly funny and always entertaining," Myers said.
Rich Jaffe of Broadway in Boston says the show is important to the arts.
"It changes people's lives when they see their first Broadway show," Jaffe said.
Jaffe is thrilled a Bostonian won the trip to the Tony's out of the 50,000 that entered.
