Local gas prices stay on even keel
So far, it has been a summer of sun and stable gasoline prices, and that's been good for people planning to drive for their vacation.
AAA of Southern New England says the price for self-serve unleaded dropped a penny this week to $2.66 a gallon. It was unchanged last week.
Spokeswoman Mary McGuire says oil prices have also been relatively stable, although they did rise above the $80 a barrel level on Monday.

Southern New England is doing much better than the national average, which is $1.74 a gallon.
Gasoline was selling for $2.51 in the region a year ago.
As far as the range of prices, you can find gas now selling for as low as $2.51 a gallon to a high of $2.99. It's a good idea to shop around.
For even better bargains, you can use discount cards, or keep an eye out for promotions at individual stations.
