Callers Educate Gresh & Zo On The World Cup
BOSTON (CBS) - Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak are football guys, not futbol guys. So they want to learn from soccer fans about the World Cup and what makes it so great.
When the guys started Wednesday's show talking World Cup, immediately the text lines were flooded with anti-soccer rhetoric.
"Why are you guys talking soccer?"
"Who cares?"
"Soccer is boring!"
That may be true for Gresh and Zo too but they're at least willing to hear you out, so they posed this question on Twitter and on air:
Part of the World Cup intrigue for Zolak is the fear of missing out and not wanting to miss the boat on such a great spectacle. Zo appreciates the Olympics, also every four years, and how athletes are competing for their respective countries.
Still, Zo needs convincing and that's where you come in.
"There's this weird mechanism in my head because I feel like I'm missing something [about the World Cup]," said Zolak.
Gresh and Zo, self described World Cup laymen, were unaware about this "Group Of Death" thing until this week.
The US Men's National Team, or USMNT for short, must face Ghana, who has knocked them out of the last two World Cups, as well as Portugal and Germany, two of the consensus top three teams on the planet.
Callers phoned in to tell the guys which bars are the best for watching these games, and the North End sounds like the place to be.
Give Gresh and Zo your World Cup viewing recommendations and make your case why it's such a great event below in the comments section!
