Lions Safety Glover Quin Calls Foxboro 'A Weird Place'

BOSTON (CBS) - It only took until Friday but looks like we have some bulletin board material to get fired up for this Patriots-Lions game on Sunday!

Sort of.

Anyone who has driven to Gillette Stadium for a Patriots game knows getting in and out of the town of Foxboro can be challenging to say the least. But with police escorts and cleared roadways it's actually quite easy if you're the visiting team, but that doesn't stop players from passing judgment.

Lions safety Glover Quin is not a fan of the region, and he let that be known in an interview with The Detroit Free Press.

"Foxboro's a weird place," Quin said. "You go up there and you're in a hotel and then you got to drive through like back woods to get there and then all of a sudden a stadium appears like it seems like in people's backyard and it's like, just a weird place out there. And they love it. They play great there. I've never won there. I've played there three or four times, I've never won there. It's tough to win there."

Winners of 14 straight regular season home games, Quin is of course referencing the team's home field advantage when he brings up the challenge of playing there. A former AFC foe as a member of the Houston Texans, Quin has never won a game in that weird place called Foxboro.

Quin points to the fans as another reason why.

"That the crowd is so silent on offense, and Tom Brady is able to really control the offense as opposed to having to signal a lot," Quin said. "Look at a TV copy of a home game from New England and just listen. You can hear everything that he's saying."

Earlier today on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Scott Zolak shared with us his first impressions of Foxboro when he was drafted by the Patriots in 1991.
