Lineup Shuffle: With Youkilis Out, Pedroia Bats 4th
BOSTON (CBS) - With Kevin Youkilis out with a sore left foot, second baseman Dustin Pedroia will bat cleanup in the Red Sox series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies.
"I think he's very happy about it," manager Terry Francona said about the move. "His chest size seemed to get bigger by the minute."
"He won't shy away from the challenge," Tito added. "This isn't going to ensure he gets hits, but he'll love it. He'll enjoy the day."
Pedroia last hit cleanup in 2008, going 12-for-18 with two home runs, four doubles and seven RBI.
Youkilis fouled a ball off the top of his left foot Wednesday night and is due to have X-Rays as a precaution.
