Licata On Toucher & Rich: Suspensions Coming For A-Rod And 12 Others
Suspensions for Alex Rodriguez and 12 others in the Biogenesis cases are expected to be announced Monday, according to people familiar with the case. It seems that A-Rod will be facing a suspension that will take him through the 2014 season, which is 214 games.
It's assumed that Rodriguez will appeal the suspension, so he'll be able to play Monday.
Sal Licata from SNY TV and MLB.com joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich to discuss what he believes is going to happen in this case.
Will the public finally find out exactly what the MLB has against Rodriguez?
"I think that would be great and I think we deserve to see all that after hearing about this non-sense for weeks, I don't think that's going to be the case."
At first thoughts were that commissioner Bud Selig would try to go after Rodriguez under the "best interests" clause from the Collective Bargaining Agreement, but now is seems Selig will just use the banned substance policy. Why not try and get A-Rod under the "best interests" clause?
"You would think that would be the smart thing to do to try and get A-Rod away, but I think if he does do that then A-Rod's going to go even harder."
The guys also discuss possible defenses that Rodriguez could use to lower or get out of a suspension.
