Letters Written By Bulger Sell For $2,000 Each
SAUGUS (CBS) - A pair of letters written by Whitey Bulger just sold for $2,000 each at a Saugus memorabilia store.
The jailhouse letters written by James "Whitey" Bulger to a South Boston friend don't detail any crimes, but they do contain details that caught the attention of one collector about the difference between prison and his days in Alcatraz, as well as how he'd plead guilty to anything to spare his girlfriend jail time.

The friend who had received those letters offered them up to collector Phil Castinetti, who owns Sports World in Saugus.

Castinetti deals almost exclusively with sports memorabilia, but he has sold some non-sports collector items in the past.
"Maybe seven or eight years ago, we had a letter from Charles Manson," Castinetti said. "We've had letters from Albert DeSalvo; letters from Richard Reid."
The buyer of the letters was not identified.
