Lekic Scores Winner For Revs In 83rd Minute
FOXBOROUGH (AP) - Danish newcomer Rajko Lekic broke a tie in the 83rd minute with his first MLS goal in the New England Revolution's 3-2 comeback victory over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.
Playing his second match since being signed from Silkeborg, Lekic headed in a cross from Zak Boggs on the right wing. Lekic had 76 goals in 121 games for Silkeborg.
The Revolution (2-2-3) played with a man advantage over the final 14 minutes after Aurelian Collin was red-carded for interfering with Matt Reis while the goalkeeper covered a corner kick.
New England tied it in the 72nd minute on Shalrie Joseph's team-leading third goal of the season. Joseph, back in the lineup after serving a one-game, red-card suspension, headed in Kenny Mansally's indirect kick.
Kei Kamara scored twice for Sporting (1-3-1). He gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Sporting's Teal Bunbury was taken down by defender Kevin Alston in the penalty box area and referee Edvin Jurisevic awarded Kansas City the penalty kick.
New England opened the scoring in the 12th minute when midfielder Marko Perovic one-timed a left-footed shot off a pass from U.S. national team midfielder Benny Feilhaber, making his Revolution debut.
Kamara tied it in the 14th minute off a pass from Bunbury.
