Legal Wrangling Continues In Clemens Case
WASHINGTON (AP) - A congressional panel and law firm that investigated performance-enhancing drugs in baseball have agreed to respond to subpoenas issued by Roger Clemens in the next three weeks.
The former star pitcher served subpoenas two weeks ago on George Mitchell's former law firm, which investigated the issue for Major League Baseball and on a House committee that held subsequent hearings. The subpoenas sought evidence they collected on whether Clemens used drugs. Clemens maintains he did not, but prosecutors have charged him with lying.
Clemens' attorneys filed a motion Friday that said all parties agreed to respond to the subpoenas by March 18. The committee and firm may respond by fighting the subpoenas, which could delay the July start of the trial.
The judge scheduled a hearing for April 21.
