Man Who Once Took Hostages At Hillary Clinton Campaign Office Accused Of Robbing Bank
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire man who made headlines nearly a decade ago for taking hostages at a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign office is in trouble with the law again.
Leeland Eisenberg, a 55-year-old Concord resident, allegedly robbed a Citizens Bank on Elm Street in Manchester on Tuesday. Surveillance cameras show the suspect handing a note to the teller stating that he had a gun, before getting away with an undisclosed sum of money.
Officers later spotted Eisenberg walking in a cemetery and took him into custody without incident. Police said he was unarmed, but was carrying 6.5 grams of crack cocaine.
In 2007, Eisenberg entered a Clinton campaign office in Rochester, New Hampshire and took workers hostage. He had road flares strapped to his chest and claimed he had a bomb.
No one was hurt during the five-hour standoff.
In 2013, Eisenberg was in the news again after walking away from a halfway house in Manchester.
Eisenberg says he will act as his own attorney to defend charges for the robbery and drug possession.
