Lawyers In Irish Nanny Case Want Medical Reports
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — Defense attorneys for an Irish nanny charged in the death of a 1-year-old Cambridge girl are waiting for reports on broken bones the child allegedly had weeks before her death.
Aisling Brady McCarthy of Quincy is charged with murder and assault and battery on a child in the death of Rehma Sabir in January. The girl was hospitalized on her first birthday with severe head injuries and died two days later.
McCarthy's lawyer has accused prosecutors of presenting "false and deceptive" information to a grand jury, including about earlier bone fractures the defense said haven't been tied to McCarthy.
During a pretrial hearing Wednesday, McCarthy's lawyer said the defense is waiting for medical reports on the existence of bone fractures.
Another hearing is scheduled for Nov. 19.
