Lauzon-Sotiropoulos on Tap for 123

Get ready for some jiu-jitsu fireworks.

According to MMAJunkie.com, Bridgewater's Joe Lauzon has verbally agreed to fight George Sotiropoulos on November 23rd at UFC 123. While it has not officially been confirmed by the UFC, both fighters have verbally agreed to the fight, and should Sotiropoulos win, he may get the winner of Gray Maynard-Frankie Edgar in a lightweight title match.

Lauzon is coming off a 2 minute drubbing of Gabe Ruediger in front of a homecrowd at UFC 118 last month and, despite a loss last January against Sam Stout, has won 4 of his last 5 fights. Should he defeat Sotiropoulos, you have to wonder where he stands in the division.

After competing in Season 6 of The Ultimate Fighter, Sotiropoulos has gone 6-0 in the UFC and is coming off back to back decision victories over Kurt Pellgrino and Joe Stevenson. The Aussie is one of the few in the division that match Lauzon's BJJ chops, and with a win might be the most deserving fighter in the division of a title shot.
