Late-Week Cooldown

Yesterday was a warm one with many towns and cities flirting with 70F degrees!  Today, we can prepare for another mild day across New England.  There will be an overload of cloud cover and even a few showers, especially this afternoon for areas south of the Mass Pike.  These showers are being guided by a cold front that will head south of the Islands this evening.   I think we will all have a reprieve from any showers until late tonight as more showers approach from our southwest.  However, this cold front will continue to hover around Southern New England as another wave of low pressure rides along the frontal boundary. Consequently, Southeastern Massachusetts will see the return of showers by early Wednesday morning.  This will produce more widespread showers for the entire area during the day on Wednesday. High temperatures will also be returning to the middle to upper 50s.

The front will slowly travel east Wednesday night. There may be a few leftover showers for the Outer Cape/Islands early Thursday morning. Otherwise, Thursday will be dry with a mixture of clouds and sun.  Winds will be breezy as cooler air settles in. Highs will be near 50F.  Even colder air will head our way on Friday. Despite the sunny skies, Friday's high temperatures will only reach the middle 40s.

This Weekend:  Saturday will remain sunny with the jetstream locked in a zonal flow. Highs will start to rebound as they climb into the middle and upper 50s. A cold front comes through late-day Sunday. Typically, a front brings precipitation. However, this front looks moisture-starved at this point so I just added more cloud cover late in the day. High temperatures will be mild as we return to the lower and middle 60s.
