Late Packages Expected To Arrive Thursday
BOSTON (CBS) --- If your Christmas gifts didn't make it in time, most people should have them by Thursday.
UPS and FedEx were hoping to deliver most of the late packages by the end of the day.
UPS employees were called in to work Christmas night to get things moving.
Bad weather and an overloaded system are being blamed for the delays.
UPS said in a statement it will honor service guarantees for air and international deliveries, which may include refunds.
"UPS apologizes to both shipping and receiving customers who may have delays. We had additional sorting operations at Worldport, the UPS international air hub in Louisville, KY, on Christmas and are making deliveries and pickups today," the company said. "We expect all excess volume to be delivered today or tomorrow. Customers should continue to access UPS.com for the most updated information."

UPS also says customers with questions can call their customer service line at 1-800-742-5877.
FedEx also issued a statement on Thursday, acknowledging disruptions.
"Our 300,000 team members delivered outstanding service during this holiday season, and we experienced no major service disruptions in the week before Christmas despite heavy volume. Every single package is important to us, and we will continue to work directly with customers to address any isolated incidents," the statement said.
Amazon is also offering to refund shipping charges and is giving out $20 gift cards.
