Lance Armstrong To Ride In Pan-Mass. Challenge
BOSTON (AP) - Seven-time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong will be among the participants in the 32nd Pan-Massachusetts Challenge next month.
Organizers announced on Wednesday that Armstrong will ride the first leg of the challenge from Sturbridge to Bourne.
Armstrong will be riding for the first time in the annual event that raises money through the Jimmy Fund for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
Some 5,300 cyclists from 37 states and eight countries are expected to ride some or all of the 190 miles on Aug. 6 and 7.
Organizers expect this year's ride to raise about $34 million, with all of the money raised going directly toward cancer research and treatment.
