Lancaster Dairy Farm Engulfed In Flames
LANCASTER (CBS) - Flames shot several feet into the air and smoke billowed for miles as firefighters battled a blaze in Lancaster on Saturday.
The Manny Dairy Farm on Brokelman Street was ablaze, but fortunately no being - human or animal - was injured.
"I walked outside and the barn was engulfed," said neighbor Kimberly Hennessy. "There was black smoke, green smoke, and a lot of flames."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Unfortunately for firefighters, the only two fire hydrants on the street are very old and were not working properly. Tankers were brought in to help stop the flames from further damaging the farm.
"We have no fire hydrant on this road," Deputy Fire chief Michael Hanson said. "There were no injuries, and all the animals got out safely."
Surprisingly, this is not the first time the farm has dealt with large fires. Manny's Dairy Farm has had at least two other fires recently.
In all, it took the combined efforts of 25 fire departments to restore order on the farm.
