Kevin Garnett: 'This Is Definitely My Last All-Star Game'
BOSTON (CBS) -- Is Kevin Garnett planning to retire at the end of this season? We don't know, but the 36-year-old 15-time all-star at least fueled some speculation with his postgame comments from the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
"For it being my last [All-Star Game] I guess, I got some family coming down," Garnett casually mentioned in the Celtics' locker room.
That statement prompted further questioning, namely ... what?
"This is definitely my last All-Star Game," Garnett said.
Garnett was then asked why, to which he replied, "Why not?"
Garnett was then told that he has two years remaining on his contract, at which point Garnett's words got a little vague.
"Y'all don't know what I know though," Garnett told reporters. "Let's put it like this: I'm more than grateful for going. I'm not going to act like I got more All-Star Games in me or whatever. So I'm actually going to enjoy this one with my friends and family. That's what I meant."
Perhaps Garnett only means that he doesn't expect to be voted into future All-Star Games, or perhaps he sees the finish line sooner than many expect. Either way, Garnett said he doesn't anticipate getting too emotional when he walks off the court in Houston this weekend.
"No feelings whatsoever. I've always enjoyed each All-Star Game as I showed up and played, and whatever happened happened," Garnett said. "I'm not a guy that's going to show too much emotion into something like that. Not at that time."
