Kerry Urges Toned Down Rhetoric After Arizona Shooting
WASHINGTON (CBS) - Sen. John Kerry is urging pundits and politicians to choose their words carefully in the wake of the shooting rampage this past weekend in Tucson, Arizona.
"In the weeks and months ahead, the real issue that we need to confront isn't just what role divisive political rhetoric may have played on Saturday – but it's the violence divisive, overly simplistic dialogue does to our democracy every day," said Sen. Kerry.
Sen. Kerry delivered the address Tuesday morning at the Center for American Progress in Washington.
Six people were killed and several others, including Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, were wounded in the shooting.
