Keller @ Large: Voters Warming Up To Warren Before Debate
BOSTON (CBS) - Excitement is building for Thursday night's first debate between senate candidates Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren.
The debate will be held at the WBZ studios with Jon Keller serving as moderator.
New polls are showing that Senator Brown remains one of the most popular politicians in Massachusetts, but after a shaky start, it appears voters are starting to warm up to Elizabeth Warren.
Warren toured the studio Tuesday where she and Brown will meet for the first time at the debate.
She plans to, "Talk about what I've been talking about all around the Commonwealth for a year now, and that is, the game is rigged."
But a flurry of recent polls suggests a more specific debate game plan. According to the latest Suffolk University Poll, Warren has added nine points to her favorability rating since May.
Brown still holds an edge, but it's shrinking.
"Scott Brown's not a bad guy," Warren says in a new ad. "He doesn't always vote the wrong way, but too often on things that matter, he's not with you."
In the new TV spot, the Warren campaign is feeling good enough about her rising popularity to once again put her in front of the camera, minus the hard-edge of some past ads.
The fresh polls aren't all bad news for Brown. In the Suffolk survey, he's gaining ground on questions like who better represents the middle-class, and who'll be a more independent senator.
The debate will be held at 7:00pm Thursday.
