Keller @ Large: These Red Sox Have A Special Spot In My Heart
BOSTON (CBS) - If you grow up a Boston sports fan like I did, chances are you root for all the local teams, and of course you love it when they win.
But if you're like me, you develop an extra attachment to certain editions of your teams.

I've always loved the Celtics since my father took me to see Bill Russell beat Wilt, but the Havlicek/Cowens/Jo Jo White Celtics have always been my favorites. Ditto for the Jim Plunkett/Randy Vataha Patriots and, of course, the Orr/Esposito Bruins.
And while this year's Red Sox, who begin their World Series run Friday, may not be the best Sox team I've ever seen, they already have a special spot in my heart, maybe because they remind me of the team that saved Red Sox baseball in Boston, the Impossible Dream Sox of 1967.
There are many similarities.
The '67 Sox had one big slugger, Yaz, just as the current team has Big Papi. They had a slugging first baseman, George Scott, who corresponds neatly with Mike Napoli.
And while this year's team has no 20-game winner to match Jim Lonborg, both teams have four starters with ten or more wins.
The '67 Sox led the league in homers, while the 2013 Sox are second, but they both manufacture runs with similar creativity and determination.
Both teams came from behind to win games with regularity.
Both had appealing personalities.
And of course, both went from worst to first.
Few communal experiences in life are more exhilarating than going from the pits to the penthouse in the course of one glorious summer and fall.
So, go Sox. I love you guys.
And something tells me I'm not the only one.
