Keller @ Large: Republican Convention To Bolster Romney, Cut Down Obama
TAMPA (CBS) - Mitt Romney waltzed into the Massachusetts governor's office a decade ago thanks to voters who hoped he could help revive our struggling economy.
Starting Monday, his party's big dance will convene here in Tampa with the very same promise in the air.
But before we get to Romney's climactic speech on Thursday, the 4,400 delegates and close to 15,000 members of the media -- and through us, the party hopes, millions of voters -- will be treated to double-barreled political spin -- an effort to buff up Romney's image, and tear down the incumbent's.
The latter task will likely fall to blunt-talking New Jersey governor Chris Christie.
"There are three words that are not in my speech Tuesday night - the Jersey comeback," he said.
That might leave Snooki disappointed, but watch for Christie to offer a blistering critique of the Obama years.
Otherwise, expect the ticket to channel Ronald Reagan, in hopes of leaving undecided voters humming a feel-good tune.
