Keller @ Large: Linda Dorcena Forry Talks St. Patrick's Day Breakfast
BOSTON (CBS) -- State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry hosted the St. Patrick's Day breakfast in South Boston for the first time in 2014, and back then, a few people had trouble adjusting to the first woman--and the first woman of color--hosting the event.
"It is ancient history," said Forry. "I mean, that's how I want to look at it."
WBZ political analyst Jon Keller talked to Forry for a preview of the 2016 St. Patrick's Day breakfast, the annual event where the biggest names in Massachusetts politics trade jokes about one another. Traditionally hosted by Keller tried to get the details about this year's special guests, but Forry wasn't revealing any secrets just yet.
"We're casting a wide net to try to get some big names to come and join us," said Forry.
It is Governor Charlie Baker's second breakfast since he was elected, and Forry said she loves working with Baker and his team--but told Keller that Baker is definitely getting roasted at the event. Same with Mayor Marty Walsh--it's the first breakfast since the Olympic bid collapse.
"No doubt he'll get a little tweaking," said Forry, hinting that the Indy Car race proposed for Boston could be a topic joked about at the breakfast.
Keller and Forry also talked about Forry's bill proposing a requirement of fingerprinting for ride share drivers.
