Keller @ Large: How To Spend $600 Million

BOSTON (CBS) - So the Mega Millions jackpot tonight is more than $600 million?

No need for you to rush out and buy a ticket, the winner is right here on my desk.

Yes, I understand the odds against that are somewhat steep. But I feel lucky today.

Listen to Jon's commentary:

After watching what happened at Fenway Park this summer, why wouldn't I?

But the big issue is, what to do with the $341 million I'll have left once the government takes its share?

Obviously, that is far too much money to spend on oneself, even if you're a major-league hedonist. So the focus will be on how to help others with it.

I have a working list of organizations I admire that are in line for a nice, fat check, mostly places that provide crucial help to kids without resources or proper adult support.

I'd like to do something to make life easier for foster parents, those priceless caregivers who do so much for so many. And if there's any way my windfall could help military families cope with the sacrifices they endure, consider it done.

I bet most of you would do the same. But there are a few other ways I'd put my millions to work that you might not have thought of.

For instance, I'm sick of railing against people who don't shovel their sidewalks, and of watching seniors and others struggle to navigate them. I'd like to buy snow-melting machines for every city and town in the state to make sure that nightmare is eased.

And how about real, serious, pre-paid drivers' education instruction for every driver in this state? Hey, there's nowhere to go but up.

I've got more, but I've gotta get set to cash my winning ticket. And call my travel agent.

I have a flight to the Caribbean to book.
