Keller @ Large: Do You Care About The Facts?

BOSTON (CBS) – A viewer forwarded me a letter that's making the rounds on the internet, and it raises a couple of questions we all should be thinking about: what are the facts, and do you care about them?

The letter, purportedly from an 80-year-old Trump supporter, is addressed to the Republican National Committee in response to a fundraising appeal.

It rails against the Republicans in Congress. "We gave you a majority in the House and Senate and you never listened to us."

I'm sure some listened better than others.

But the fact is, Congress shares power with the executive and judicial branches. Republicans simultaneously controlled the White House and Congress for only four of the last 20 years, and never had the two-thirds majority needed to override a presidential veto.

What did you want them to do, stage a military coup?

The letter writer loves that Trump "hasn't asked for a dime" of other people's money, but that's not true.

As of mid-winter, nearly 30 percent of his campaign funding came from donors, and he has the support of at least one major Super Pac.

"We just want it fixed," the author concludes.

I'm sure hardcore Hillary Clinton supporters harbor the same fantasy, that their candidate can just "fix" stuff.

Wouldn't it be better to do some research, check your facts, and try to see the world as it is, not as you imagine it to be?
