Kalman On Toucher & Rich: Bruins Have Learned Their Lesson In Close-Out Games
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins will look to close out there series against the New York Rangers in Game 4 on Thursday night and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time in three years.
In a 3-0 hole, do the Rangers have any chance at coming back? CBSBostonsports.com's Bruins blogger Matt Kalman joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich on Thursday morning, and doesn't think so.
"Very slim, I would say. If you count winning one game as getting back in the series, maybe a little more than slim," said Kalman. "But the Bruins have really learned their lesson and so far we've seen they'll at least put forth their best effort every night. Whether that is good enough or not is yet to be seen, but at least they're giving their best effort, unlike they did at the end of that Toronto series."

"I hate to say a team quit because I think they're trying to play hard, they're just not playing that Rangers, playoff-mentality hard," said Kalman. "You see it after whistles; they're not pushing back that much. You haven't seen much physicality, and that's one of the keys to why the Bruins' young D is playing well; they haven't been pushed around at all."

Should the Bruins advance, they'll likely face the Pittsburgh Penguins, who own a 3-1 series lead over the Ottawa Senators after a 7-3 win on Wednesday night.
Would Boston stand a chance against the mighty Penguins? Kalman thinks so.
"Pittsburgh scores a lot of goals, but they give up some goals too," he said. "I think their defense in front of their net, whereas the Bruins can always rely on that structure and protection for the goaltender, you don't see that with Pittsburgh. You can get to the net and create (opportunities)."
