Juveniles Charged In Middle School Ransacking

ROSLINDALE (CBS) -- Two juveniles were arrested for allegedly ransacking a Roslindale middle school in the middle of the night.

Officers responded to an alarm at the Washington Irving Middle School at about 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, and heard voices coming from inside the school. Police said at one point they heard the school's public address system go off and a male voice talking.

Three white males were then seen quickly leaving a side door of the school, and attempted to run away by jumping a fence. Police were able to apprehend two of the three juveniles after a brief foot pursuit with the help of a K-9 officer.

At least 10 classrooms were ransacked, several windows were broken and electronic equipment was damaged. Several cash registers in the cafeteria and display cases in the front hall were also vandalized, according to police.

The juveniles are charged with delinquent to wit, breaking and entering and larceny, among other charges.
