Jurors In Boston Marathon Bombing Trial Ordered Not To Attend Race
BOSTON (CBS) -- The jurors tasked with deciding whether the Boston Marathon bomber will live or die have been ordered not to attend or watch any coverage of this year's race.
"Do not attend the Boston Marathon," Judge George O'Toole said Tuesday morning to the jury that convicted Dzhokhar Tsarnaev last week for his role in the deadly April 2013 attacks.
The penalty phase of the trial starts next Tuesday, the day after the marathon, and is expected to take about four weeks, O'Toole said.
The judge instructed the 18-member jury, which includes six alternates, not to go to any commemorations of the two-year bombing anniversary, and avoid all coverage of the marathon this year.
The jury was also reminded not to speak with friends or family about the case.
