Judge Bans Contact With Juror In Aaron Hernandez Murder Trial
FALL RIVER (CBS) -- The judge who oversaw the first murder trial of Ex-Patriot player Aaron Hernandez has barred both legal sides from having any contact with a juror who has been accused of misleading the court.
The order, made by Superior Court Judge Susan E. Garsh, comes after the defense requested further investigation into the juror who was involved in deliberations that led to Hernandez's conviction of first-degree murder for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.
Hernandez's lawyer James Sultan said he spoke four times with an anonymous caller, starting the day after Hernandez's conviction.
Sultan says the caller told him the juror was present for a discussion about a Boston double murder case that Hernandez is also charged in. Mention of those killings was barred at trial. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty.
Sultan says the juror didn't disclose knowing about the Boston case.
