Jones: Who Should Be Bruins' Top Target At Trade Deadline?
BOSTON (CBS) - With the NHL trade deadline looming, Jeff Marek of Sportsnet Canada called into 98.5 The Sports Hub's The Adam Jones Show to discuss potential deals the Boston Bruins could do.
The Bruins have a few holes to fill, which include a top-line right winger and a top-four defenseman. If he had to prioritize the two, Marek puts down the blue line as the biggest need.
"I would go blue line first, but that might be my blue line bias," Marek told The Adam Jones Show. "There are plenty who would say not only do the Bruins need something on the right side at that top line, but they also need something on that right side with speed, which is an element the Bruins have lacked for a long time."
Everyone has their wish list, but Adam Jones has one player in particular who he feels like would be a great fit in Black and Gold: Los Angeles Kings right winger Justin Williams. However, Marek doesn't feel the Bruins have a shot at him right now.
"I have a hard time believing that Justin Williams will be available," Marek mentioned. "But I'm with you [Jones], that if Williams were to become available, it would boost the playoff hopes for the Bruins if they were able to acquire him."
So if not Justin Williams, then who? Marek suggests the Bruins could bring back Jaromir Jagr. Another popular name being floated around for the B's is Buffalo right winger Chris Stewart.
"The price tag for Stewart is steep, but once the trade deadline rolls around the price will go down," Marek said. "The only problem with Stewart is he plays hide and go seek. Where is the consistency of Chris Stewart? Stewart's name has been attached to the Bruins since day one and he fits the identity of the Bruins."
As the trade deadline approaches the Bruins seem to be active in trade talks, even if no acquisitions have been made as of yet.
