Jones: Is Wes Welker A Patriots Hall Of Famer?
BOSTON (CBS) - On Tuesday night, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones talked about Wes Welker's appearance on Toucher and Rich from earlier in the day.
Amazingly, even after all the concussions, Welker still has a desire to play and even left the door slightly open for a return to the Patriots.
The guys also discuss if Welker is a Patriots Hall of Famer when he decides to walk away from the NFL.
"He should be a Patriots Hall of Famer. He is their all-time leading receiver, was on a couple of Super Bowl teams -- he didn't win, but he should be a Patriots Hall of Famer in my mind, even though he was only here for six years. Those six years were ridiculous," Jones said of the slot receiver.
"He's the guy that really made the offense go. Welker got drives started and Tom Brady always looked to him on third downs. He should be a Patriots Hall of Famer, but will he get in?" Jones asked.
"Yes. Yes he will. Because time heals all wounds. He was a Pro Bowler in five of those years and All-Pro in two of those years. The numbers were off the charts. I would put him in. You've got to remember, too, that it is a fan vote," added Rich Keefe. "If the Ultimate Warrior can get into the WWE Hall of Fame, then anything can happen. He and Vince McMahon did not see eye to eye."
