Jon Morris Elected To Patriots Hall of Fame
BOSTON (CBS) -The New England Patriots announced Sunday that center Jon Morris was elected into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
Morris played 11 seasons with the Patriots after being selected in the fourth-round out of Holy Cross in 1964. He was selected to seven straight all-star games, six AFL all-star games from 1964-1969 and the NFL Pro Bowl in 1970. He was the first Patriot to ever be selected to the Pro Bowl.
"It was overwhelming," said Morris of his reaction to the call from Patriots owner Robert Kraft. "I thought my days were numbered. This announcement came as a complete surprise. I consider this the crowning achievement of my football life and I am so thankful to the Kraft family and the selection committee for allowing me to experience this feeling."
"I give the Krafts all the credit for making the alumni feel so special and I look forward to being a part of this year's hall of fame ceremony," Morris added.
Morris will be inducted later this year along with one more inductee. The Patriots will announce the other three finalists on April 15th, with fan voting determining who gets elected.
