Former Patriots kicker Joey Slye reportedly signs with Titans
You can add kicker to the list of needs for the New England Patriots, as veteran Joey Slye is reportedly joining the Tennessee Titans.
Slye's tenure in New England is ending after just one season, as he reportedly agreed to a deal with the Titans on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The 28-year-old connected on 26 of his 33 field goal attempts with the Patriots in 2024 -- including a career-long 63-yard field goal in a Week 4 loss to the 49ers -- and 25 of his 26 extra-point attempts.
Slye also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Commanders over his six-year NFL career. He's put 81.7 percent of his field goal attempts through the uprights and has connected on 89.6 percent of his extra-point attempts for his career.
Patriots options at kicker in 2025
The Patriots now have one kicker on their roster in John Parker Romo. The 27-year-old made his NFL debut last season for the Minnesota Vikings and appeared in four games, connecting on 11 of his 12 field goals while going 7-of-8 on his extra points. He signed with the New England practice squad last December, and was signed to a future's contract by the Patriots in January.
The Patriots may look to add a veteran to their kicker mix given Romo's lack of NFL experience, with free agents Greg Joseph and Michael Badgley potential options along with 40-year-old Nick Folk. New England could also add a kicker through the NFL Draft with one of the team's nine selections.
