JFK Library Marks 50th Anniversary Of Election
BOSTON (AP) - The election isn't over quite yet at the John F. Kennedy presidential library in Boston.
On Monday, the library will mark the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's historic victory over Richard Nixon in the presidential election of Nov. 8, 1960.
Kennedy spent the final day of the campaign in New England, culminating with a Boston Garden rally.
On Election Day, he voted in Boston before heading to the family compound on Cape Cod to wait out one of the closest presidential votes in U.S. history.
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has proclaimed Monday John Fitzgerald Kennedy Victory Day in Boston.
The JFK Library has been running programs throughout the year to commemorate the campaign's 50th anniversary.
The library is also hosting an invitation-only "Election Victory 1960" party on Monday night.
