Jerry Remy Has Relapse Of Lung Cancer
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox announcer Jerry Remy has had a relapse of lung cancer.
Remy, a longtime smoker, made the announcement Wednesday.
He said a CAT scan back in January revealed a spot on his lung. He said it was not the same spot where he was originally diagnosed with lung cancer back in 2009.

"During spring training I came back to Mass General, had radiation treatments and that cured it. So now the course of treatment is every three months to six months, go in for a CAT scan and keep an eye on it," Remy told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller.
Remy said he doesn't expect to miss any time and plans to be in the broadcast booth for every game this season.
"The only thing I say to the fans out there, I always said I'd be honest with them if I had health problems and for the fans out there make sure you see a doctor because early detection saves lives," Remy said.
"I'm very confident in (the) doctors, I really am. They've been on top of this since day one. You know nobody wants to hear the word that you have cancer, but the fact is you have it and you deal with it and there are many ways that they deal with it now that they couldn't years ago and so I'm very lucky."
NESN also announced that Remy recently signed a multi-year extension with the network to continue broadcasting games.
Remy has been calling Red Sox games since 1988.
He played seven seasons as the Sox second baseman from 1978 to 1984.
