Jenks On Spring Debut: "It Was A Really Good Day"

FORT MYERS, Fla. (CBS) - Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks made his spring training debut with his new team on Thursday.

The righty tossed one inning and allowed a double against the Phillies, but otherwise had a strong first appearance.

"Actually, it went a little better than I expected. I made some really good pitches. I threw the ball for the most part exactly where I wanted to today, so all in all, it was a really good day," said Jenks.

Jenks spoke to WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller after the game.

Jenks took the opportunity to mix in all of his pitches.

"I threw all three fastballs, a cutter, sinker, four-seam. I threw a change-up today for an off-speed," said Jenks, who added he would like to throw some more change-ups this season.

Pitching-wise, the Sox as a team fared pretty well, allowing just two runs on seven hits. Unfortunately, the bats didn't deliver, as Mike Cameron was the lone player with a hit in the Phillies' 2-0 win.
